I bought this car in pieces and me and my friend Chris (the previous owner) got it back on the road.

Here's what the car looked like when I bought it

First thing we did was clean up the pan.

Then we set the body back on the pan. I rebuilt a junkyard trans axle and pulled the 1600dp out of my baja. Unfortunately I don't have any pics of either.

Iowavw_217 Sat Sep 26, 2009 9:08 am

We then built a 5" narrowed adjustable beam.

decided that wasn't narrow enough so we built a 6.5"

Interior starting to come together

Engine in and running good

A lot of other little stuff done and it's back on the road.

Windshield is on the way, and I still have a bunch of things to do but that's all for now.

Great to be back on the road.
That is Narrow.. the front tire looks missing!

Btw.. The rear rain gutter rust looks vicious? The rest of the car infected?

Actually the drip rails are the only rusty part on the car. I also hove a whole extra roof clip for patch panels. The beam is pretty narrow, but I would like to run some raders or brm's eventually. Next thing to do is get some running boards on there.

You really think that rust looks "vicious"?

Excellent news then. Just a little labor and it will be repaired. Keep us posted on pictures.

deluxekombi67..
 Please read my original comment in context. I was referring to "rain gutter rust looking vicious". I've several on my property 63, 65, 68, 69, bugs & buses that are infected beyond common sense repair. Yes.. it's horrific and not anything glorious. Tragic and Sad.

Now I have some friends that tackle every angle.. cutting, replacing and removing the rust so they can correctly restore the ride.

Check it out over 30 pages. It's amazing.

Enjoy the Ride.

Its getting painted funky green next week. I ordered drop spindles, running boards, chrome center caps and lug bolts, rear shocks, and tie rod ends, and I just put a new exhaust on it.

I kinda like it the way it is, it has a lot of personality.

Yeah but I can't just let it rust, and everything else on the car is at the least cleaned and painted. It's alot nicer of a car than it looks like.

Thats his old OG setup. it was a little crude looking then. not bad now matt, Progress for sure! . Just not your mainstream setup by anymeans. Id love to see this thing go hideaway style matt. put that short intake on i have. and get the turbo under the apron
with a deck lid back on. Thats the whole point of a blow thru vs. draw thru. imo

If you deside to go the route your going id

1.go ahead and get that intercooler and oil cooler on the package tray,

2.get rid of that old ass hks bov with the ripped diapham and put a ssqv or rfl in there.

3. Run the longer tall header i have with the short progressive intake i also offered to you for free to get your egt's entering the turbo down along with straighter flow into the carb

3.5 rebuild or replace your shot turbo, It smokes, it has a shht load of shaft play and those ebay electric turbos spool faster

4. get rid of 100%!! of all boost, vacume, and compression leaks

5. thank me for the difference it made when your done.
