No. I considered to fill those holes but the more "little" stuff that is repaired the less original paint is left...it adds up pretty quick. And the other "issues" on the body like scrapes and dings and dents overshadow the small screw holes left from the scoops. The bus had scoops...it's part of it's history and character.
It seems like most of the buses I've owned had scoops at one time or another...even my last original paint pearl white westy had those scoop holes. I have a set of scoopes if anyone wants them :)
My 65 westy had scoops at one point. The holes are there and I'm thinking I should pick them up from you Stephen. Just need to get some measurements from you to be sure the holes line up.
My bus will show the holes like yours for the same reasons. Your bus is looking really good!!! I'm still in the parts collecting stages but I am really close to getting started with my bus. Goal is to have mine on the road spring 2011.
Keep up the good work!!! |

I got the bus home and I'm psyched to start assembly. I'm stopped work on the patina because I want to do that as the last thing. And I need to touch up some areas with paint. Here's a couple pics of it today. The fresh rims and 15X6.40 bias ply tires are on now. I stuck the front bumper, nose emblem, and a couple hubcaps on to see how it looks. The engine compartment and the engine is now clean and the engine has good compression but the alternator is going out. It may be a few weeks before I can get back on this project which bums me a little but the weather will be great...

| Hi Marc, yeah I was thinking the same thing today. I had two months of being very busy at work and I've also been focused lately on getting Teresa's 21w finished for her. And I sold my 57 single cab project and bought a 60 single cab daily driver to replace my 92 chevy gas guzzler and the new SC has needed some love to be a reliable daily driver. I am planning to get back on this project late june and looking forward to it. More to come...thanks for checking in! |

| Sorry to have been out of touch on this project. The project went on hold temporarily...which turned into almost a year! I'll be starting back on it in February and should have some pretty good momentum going in to spring...so more updates at that time. |
