first of all thank you for taking the time to help me
i was recently driving my 1970 baja when all of the sudden i head a noise and my clutch pedal was completly loose and i had no clutch and could not shift, so when i got home i tried to adjust the cable and tighten it a little, the pedal went back to normal but what happens is if i turn on the car and press the clutch i heard a grinding noise and could not shift into any gear, i was trying to fix this the whole day until i noticed that the pedal had gotten loose again, so when i went to see if i could tightened it again the nut was tightened all the way but the cable was still loose someone please help!!!!!!
thank you, luis

My W.A.G. -broken finger on throwout shaft.
If you can move the lever on the trans by hand, it's time to pull the engine.

I am going to go with a clutch cable that is breaking. As the strands break the cable gets longer. You adjust it and it works a few times until you break some more cable and then it doesnt work. It usually rusts inside the housing. Pull the cable out and check it. easier than pulling the motor.

then see the post above for the next step.... :D

Had the same problem with our 65 baja last week. Thought it was a clutch cable until I got down and looked. Clutch pedal moved and so did the cable and arm at the other end. Pulled the motor and found that one of the two arms on the lever broke at the weld.
That was our problem and it sounds a lot like yours.
Good luck
