will an 091 bolt in without hacking the frame horns, et cetera?

can I run type 4 flanges on it?

will I need to change the axle length?

You will need to weld in the Bus into bug mount kit, your type 4 cv's should bolt up to the flanges on the 091 and you should need shorter axles as the trans is wider. Don't know what lenght cause you didn't say what arms you are running.

looking at

091 trans on a 10 degree mount
stock X 1 arms
notch and reindex springplate
Type 3 rear brakes

over a rather industrious Thanksgiving week off.

if I can put the type 3 brakes on Type 4 stubs. not determined yet.

The splines of type 3 and type 4 are the same, so you should be good there.

There is some minor cutting of the frame horns required for the 10* kit, but I wouldn't characterize it as major hacking.
