Well another day done and not as much progress as I would have liked but none the less progress. After the day I had today I'm buying a spot welder I can only hope that it will help me speed things up a bit.. My goal for this project is to have it done or close to it by the next Niello ranch run so I have time but if I decide to to a full blown resto I might be pushing it a little but only time will tell. Here are some pictures of the small amount of progress I made today......

Wondering if being invited to the Mt. Shasta Snow Trip in February might really get you excited... Just think how stoked your truck would be to roll out with 20+ other seriously functional vintage buses AND their drivers. Come on! You've got 4 months. :D

I think the only thing this bus would be able to do on the shasta snow trip is plow snow.. So if you guys get snowed in let me know

Oh, yeah... you're lowering this one

It's all good. I would still like you to go, and no concerns for taking your own ride, most who hit this thing have ample room in their buses for navigators. Keep the killer DC at home and find some other maniac on here that's going and make a team. Consider it... all you'll have to do is pack some crap and typically split the gas.

Your work here to the DC is heroic, I would love to buy you multiple beers @ Shasta!

Who wants to take this cat????

Well fitted the front floor today dropped right in needs just a little trimming and it should be good to go....

Beautiful work, continue kicking rust-ass!

kombisutra Fri Oct 23, 2009 7:22 pm

Really great work! Dog legs are supposed to be a little tricky. Very glad to see your work on the seat stand. Your dedication to that restoration work there convinces me that you're NOT going to tub it. [-o<

Holy crap you're moving along and do very nice work. Good to hear the floor dropped in. How did you like the seat stand fit? Looks like it fit nicely and now I've got the solution as opposed to cutting out the stand from an OG bus.

Keep the pics coming.

The seat stand repairs were a little trickey if you look close at the pictures of them you will see on the drivers side I had to make a slice in it to get the right fit for the stampings and not only that so that when you looked down the stampings they are straight. On the passenger side was alot worse I had to cut it completly cut it in half to once again get the stamping straight and to line up however on the passenger side I ended up with a half inch gap that I had to fill will another piece of metal.. If you take your time fitting them they are a great alternative to replacing the whole seat stand

just curious, is this a late 59 with the forward shifter position? I guess I would have expected it to be a straight shifter bus.

That's some nice Funky Green!
It's on my Christmas list.

Sure is..... Yeah when I went to buy it I was hoping that it was a straight shifter model but I dont mind either just happy to have a DC let alone a bullet model DC 8)
