I recently purchased and installed a single weber 44 with an EMPI intake and was wondering if anyone has any trouble with the movement of the carb itself. It seems kinda flimsy with just the intake boots holding things together.

The good manifolds have a cast in boss that secures it to a case bolt, the cheaper ones do not. I would weld a boss onto your manifold or purchase a good manifold like A.C.E. sells. It's worth it just for proper manifold heat, a big factor when trying to properly tune a single.

i made a small metal bracket that goes from a carb bolt to one of the screws on the alternator.... i'm headed to work now, but i have a picture of it in my gallery.... somewhere.

no movement at all.

My car uses the preheater.

On my Zenith, I have a bracket I made that goes from the fuel pump up to the base of the carb.

I like Bajaherbies setup, I have something similar on mine

I fabbed a bracket from the carb base to the generator stand, also. It's a piece of 1/2" steel angle and two "high nuts" and bolts. This is the best pic I have handy:

It attaches to the top of your case. I think that it supposed to come with a bolt to replace a stud in the top of the motor. Ill try to get some pictures up today

The steel manifolds use the heat risers to support the weight of the carb and manifold. Aluminum manifolds use a case mounted bracket. I broke a steel manifold once before I mounted it to the alt. (gen.) backing plate with a home-made bracket. Amazingly the car ran for over 40 miles out in the middle of nowhere in the AZ desert before I made it back to camp (very bad idle though).
