| Never met a Woman who owned a Bus but I was always amazed by the number of Women that would talk to me about mine. They were complete strangers that either had a story to tell or just wanted to have a look at the inside. The guys I met always asked the technical questions and wanted to see the engine. Evidently the Women were the smarter of the bunch because they knew that the inside was the big attraction. Seriously, do you think you can score in an engine compartment? |

We found her one (well two we turned into one) and she got the same reactions that you volks are experiencing. My wife is barely five feet tall and small built, so she always heard "Are you that little girl that drives that BIG bus?".
More than 15 years later and she's still a bus pilot :P. She found and purchased the '77 we have now. And even tho' I sold my '72 to finance the rebuild, the '77 is her bus. When I'm good, she lets me drive :). Peace!
Does she have a problem reaching the pedals? My wife is only 4'11" and when she rides in the passenger seat, her feet don't reach the floor so she refuses to even try driving.
No problem at all. I have thoroughly cleaned and lightly greased the seat rails so that we can switch out easily. But even in the '73 with it's hacked in Dodge hi-backs, she had no trouble driving it. And the passenger seat sits different than the drivers anyway. Tell her not to be intimidated. Peace! |

So girls driving VW's do exist...........
(20 y/o male here)
Up here in western MA it's rare enough to even see another Vanagon, let alone a girl driving an old aircooled. |

This is not saying single or married.
I found this to be true of ACVW in general where I lived when when they were all so new, the fairer sex tended to drive them more often. They may well have been more tolerance of the lower HP/weight ratios than men. |

Probably about a half dozen women bus owners around here that I know of. And see others every once in a while. Plus quite a few bug and type 3 owners.
And maybe a couple of them I would call lovely ladies.
Of all us many VW guys I doubt that many of us are refered to as wonderful gentlemen. |

I met my live in gf at a car show, both had the only air cooled. I was just traveling through, and when we met, I ended up getting a house
Now we have a '70 standard beetle,
my '68 bug and her ghia.
Although it's no longer a stocker
keep up the faith, they do exist. |

| My tried to drive my bus and had a hard time trying to move the seat forward and gave up.....She is about 5 foot 3 inches. She also did not understand the reverse gear. So it looks like I will be the only driver. |

We did a "Girls and Bays" thread; it eventually got deleted. Don't try again. |
