whats up boys, just throwing my input out here- blake and i are good buds from the same town. my response to this is coming from years of my dad and grandpa building big HP BBC's and what not. i told him that just because you dump more fuel and air to it, doesn't neccesarily mean its going to go faster, if it weren't getting enough fuel as it is it would have been leaned out already and probably suffered some major damage. Yeah, usually whenever you build a motor your carb choice depends on what you have internally in these 4cyl mills. IMO his bug runs just fine with the solex that is on it, he's looking to get more power out of what he's already got.
My reasoning was this, on a lot of the jet boats around here (where most of my experience derives from) we run 454bbc's and thats the bone stocker, a lot of guys will run two 550cfm holley carbs, on a tunnel ram intake, which is way overkill for the motor, but they have them jetted so light that it doesnt really matter. My boat ran one 850cfm that was jetted right along the middle of the road and was perfect. They would run the duals just for the looks (i agree it does look cooler!!)
Chime in boys, we need all the help we can get! |

Baja5 runs a fuel injection setup from I believe cb performance. Very very nice setup. Best of both worlds. Still aircooled and f.I. Reliability.
I run a 2275 with a single 45 dellorto. And its fine. I have run duals on street cars before. But never in the dirt. Not sure I would want to deal with 2 carbs in the desert. I can barely keep this one going. Lol j/k
