I have acess to complete fuel injection components from a 76 beetle. I am wondering if it is worth the time and energy to convert my baja buggy to FI. How well would the FI work off road.. I do moderate trail riding, with some minor whoops and jumps.

On the same note, is it extremely difficult to put a carb on a FI motor.
most of the FI searching i got only led me to street run vehicles.. I know that this has the potential ellicit biased awnseres, i am just looking at what would be the most cost effective here north and east of BFE

The awnsers illicited might just make me change directions again. Currently have glass body on a link/swing 65 pan that is in need of some love. The 76 is ball/swing and has a pretty decent pan and working runing gear. I am open to to a body swap if that woudl be easier...

Thanks, TK

I don't think the stock FI is very responsive to any modifications so you have to leave it pretty much stock, but I may be wrong. I'm going to build a 1915 with a SDS EM-4 system I bought for another car that you tune with a control box instead of a computer, it is supposed to support up to 200 HP per a liter on a well built motor [all out race motor]

If you are going to run FI, I would consider MEGASQUIRT instead of the old L-TRONICS or Jettronics or whatever it was.... Its old technology and no capabilities to easily change tuning characteristics.... Injectors and plenums (hardware) probably could be adapted to use Megasquirt ECM....

As for converting a FI engine to carburetor, its pretty much bolt on... Probable only thing missing if its a factor FI motor is case is not machined for fuel pump, but a add on electric solves that issue...

if i do decide to do that conversion what carb should I run? I dont want to run dual carbs, and do the old injectors come out?

thanks
