| I know that, but there must be an optimum starting point. i would have guessed it was the smaller ones but im really not too knowledgeable on this. |

After I told the guy I got my motor from that I was interested in mileage, he gave me a vacuum distributor, a 1300cc motor, and a 30 pict 3 carb made in West Germany. Any idea where I can get a bushing kit for this carb? What does something like that cost?
Thanks! |

If you want to clean and "rebuild" the carb you can buy a kit from almost any online retailer. Here are a couple.

If you need to replace your leaking throttle bushings see keifernet, it's what he does.

I just refilled and got 334km on a full tank, or 19.7 MPG, which is shit.
However, I did have a leak in the tank, and only repaired it about halfway through my waiting to fill up again, so maybe the next reading will be considerably better. I hope. |

| I average in the mid-20's with my 59' (1600DP) and 79'. Just about the same gas mileage as my 300 HP, AWD, 4100 lb, BMW 535XIT. The BMW is just a wee bit faster.. |

25 ain't that bad. Considering the age of the vehicle and what it was competing against at the time.

| After further tweaking (actually, everything is tuned to stock-specs), I'm getting 29 mixed city/highway in my '68. I never drive over 55, and I have a light foot. I run super, too, though I'm not sure how much bearing that has on anything but my wallet. Car seems to run better on it though. |
