see I wouldn't go much over 7.7, max 8 static CR in a bus. I think 7.1 is pushing it at dynamic for high test pump gas. The tall tires just make it that much worse, when I went from stock tires to 27 inch tires, a very small change, I immediatly felt the loss of power. I would still go bigger, but it just proves your engine notices every 1/4 inch.
with those CRs, do not run without a CHT guage. you don't want to trip your valve temperature guage out in the boonies. |

| i appreciate the concern bud. i disagree with alot of the old compression ratio phobias that alot of people have, however they are not unfounded. much of it stems from people building engines for people and worrying about the customer popping the motor by putting low test in it and not keeping thing well maintained ie valve lash, timing, plug gap, etc. yeah our gas is slowly turning into little more than water but its what we got and can be worked with. i also always run a booster and top end lube in uber big engines. i have also been thinking about running a map based timing computer. i have build several vw engines for offroad racing that push buggies that are well in excess of the weight of the bus. plus if need be we have 100 at the pump. :) i will be running an large 96 row mesa external cooler along with the stock cooler. i already have the cht guage as well. :) |

Man oh man. This is the thread I have been building my self-less ego up to all my life.
I'm quite serious about going off-grid lately. That whole peak-oil situation / usury financial bubble no one seems to understand. No matter how many times we seem to repeat it.
I am in your bunker on this one. Go solar, invest in crap that isn't made in China - it will last longer.
And get in tune with some kind of water filtration system / catchment. You might even wrap some metal rods around the heat exchangers.
I am.
There are a lot of heroes and zeroes on this forum, and in every community.
I say - you are not crazy. You are not drinking Kook Aid. Ignore the Naysayers.
Shit will hit the fan - it always does.

PS. Has anyone ever read the Skeptical Inquirer when they were growing up? Look into it. It's an awesome periodical. Called history. |

Been increasingly sober. Know yourself, the world, and history.
It repeats itself.
Guess what? There are patterns.
/political/social/everything rant.
PS. Nothing will beat oil. But it will beat your ass in the end. |

well as much of it i sad to say but true. i like to call myself and optimistic pesimist. meaning i hope for the best and prepare for the worst. i have everything to "bug out" but keep the mind that with things the way they are i will always survive. im a well prepared for any situation person. trust in the fact that there are nefarious people in power and we are not just talking of the top echelon. check out even local govt. and even into boardering countries. quick tip canada directly allows prescription export to the US without penalty, why do you think so many people are doped up on cheap oxycotin and the like so easily. however i choose to live in a city with alot of people and enjoy being well human. we are a social animal we do need socialization.
im picky about who i hang out with and how close of a friend they become is all up to their character and how well we get along. remeber people rome was around for a really really long time but it did fall and in a quite spectacular way. the thing we need to all keep in mind is that we as a people can be a great race in the galaxy but we need to cut the greed from our hearts and progress as a whole. there is so much out there and inquiring minds wanna know whats out there and are we the only ones. be kind to the people you meet and remeber its about us as a species not you or i. i dont mean to let people walk all over you but treat others as you wish to be treated. simple golden rule.
as far as oil goes we already have pleanty of renewable replacements its just a matter of forcing their use. we are spoiled on it but we have the tech to replace it.if we install a bazillion bazillion solar panels in low occupancy high sunlight areas around the US they would power our homes and transportation time and time again. we just need to set it up and the govt doesnt wanna put big oil outta biz so we the people suffer and not many say a thing about it. |

When I make it to Vegas, I'll hang out with you. Playing with shotguns is shotfun in my book.
Anyways, society won't collapse in a day.
Commodities will increase in price, and we won't have Savemart battling Safeway in price wars selling unseasonal foods. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.
That said, I have always wanted to install bulletproof glass on a Bay. It would help in the theft prevention department.
Any leads on that, anyone? I priced it out a long time ago; basically it will be a custom job, running 1,000,000 bucks or so.
Bulletproof glass should be standard equipment. Where's Nader when you need him?
Check this couple out: they are gutsy Bay people. They traveled the world in their bus, and I like their security precautions.

Uhm, actually society might just end in one day, or a week roughly. This is the latest info/research on the subject. Its out there from many sources but lucus puts it together quite well on this one. i suggest you patiently and quietly watch all 13 parts. Also watch some videos of the norway spiral, and read what some of our top scientists have said. Wait till you see the stuff at denver airport...lol.

See guys? We're not so crazy afterall! Maybe we do have all the knowledge we have ever needed.
This, after flying through Denver too many times in my life.
Airports are hell, and so is Body Scanning. My strong preference is to just V-Dub it from now on. |
