View original topic: Found some hanging wires from tranny..?

2 wires with spade terminals coming off the front, bottom, passenger side of the tranny. One wire has the opposing spade terminal on the other side of the wire and its about 2 1/2 ft long and the other wire has been snipped at the same length. What are these?

(let me know if you need a picture)

Reverse lights

positive and negative I assume? Any way, by position on the tranny maybe, you can tell them apart?

Actually No. It is just a positive feed. The reverse lights are grounded elsewhere. The switch simply completes the circuit. So connection order is not critical. Good luck

Take a look at the wiring diagram. This will explain all.

In my 1972 Super, the path is:

Black wire from hot side of coil, across the fan shroud left to right, which includes an in-line fuse holder. Then around the right side side of the fan shroud and through the hole in the front engine tin going towards tranny. I've never seen the other end, but I presume it goes to the reverse switch, then the other wire comes back through the front engine. There it connects to a Y-connector, which splits the two wires off that go to the reverse lights; those wires go behind the firewall tarboard. Each wire goes to a bulb and then the bulb grounds to the socket.
