I agree about the late models. I've owned a '64, which I loved, drove everywhere, and spent a good deal of time and money on. It was white, lowered in the front, with chrome mangles, euro blades, a cage, and a 1600 SP with big exhaust valves, and a stinger. Nothing wild, but a clean car, and fun ride. It got attention alright.

However, my '76 standard got more questions and nods of approval, and it was stock, dented, loud, ratty, and missing a deck lid...

Needless to say, early cars have great style, and beautiful bodys. I think people have simply focused on them for so long that the late models are something new... And it doesn't hurt that they're really close to the original.

Probably the only thing I don't much care for (and it's personal--do what you will with your own car) is when somebody "earlys" a late model, as pre- '66 fenders, bumpers, wheel adapters, etc. I started doing that to my '76, and it looked wrong.

I can agree with that but i have seen some late model with early fender and shaved bupers and porsche wheel that look good.

BUt i dont like when they use all early parts on a late model if you want an early get an early model.

But i do setup my car how i want it so i guess they can set there how they want it

nice buy for 600. if those rims are original ansen sprints there worth over 600 themselves

Yeah, that '76 had an early motor out of necessity, and since the fenders were questionable I swapped 'em out, and decided it looked a bit goofy.

However, the libertatrian in me says do what you will. Good things occasionally come from bad ideas.

so after a few weeks of working on it i finally updated. the afc box went out. brakes ere a night mare. and my fuel line is scary rotted. i kept getting air in the sytem, replace the frozen back wheel cylinder then bled again. found more air. so went under the car with my dad and we found that the soft lines were replaced with fuel injection lines and had been saturated and rotted so it was suckig in air. that was a few hour job to replace those. replaced 3 bent rims with a full set of new to me enkie and tires (courtesy of awesome parents) so hopefully this weekend ill get that afc replaced and have it runnin again. thanks for all the great advice guys!
