UPDATE:
Nevermind, by some fluke in my brain I figured out how to find it: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=334836&highlight=bored
ORIGINAL POST:
A few weeks ago somebody posted a sweeeet drawing of a bay window bus - kind of a sketch. I though it was awesome.
I'm a graphic designer, and I can clean that up REAL NICE, and was even considering printing some shirts (if it was OK with the original artist, of course). Maybe come to some agreement on splitting up the funds raised IF we even decided to try and sell some in the classifieds.
I can print them myself, by the way - silk screening in the garage - so it's super cheap.
But... I can't find that drawing. Anyone know the one? Who drew it? I'd love to take a stab at rendering that art in my own heavy lines style and ask permission for my crazy scheme.
I do this for real, it will be cool: http://www.davidcolecreative.com |

Yes! thanks.
Here's the drawing:
It's a nice drawing in its own right. When I say "clean it up" I mean this (this is a logo I did for a client at work):
WTF: My pic got totally deleted! (below) - oooh, didn't look VW-related at all, mod probably killed it. It was a drawing style example!

Just do the right thing and send me a couple, xxl please. I have some vanagon stuff too that I'm waiting approval/disapproval of to see what I'm able to kick loose. |

OK, rad. I will do it, and chazz, you'll get some shirts for sure, and if we raise any cash, you'll get a fair cut of that too.
If you have any bugs or whatever else, send 'em my way.

Yeah, pop-top is a must have. I can add that, or let chazz do his thang... Either way will look legit. Good times.
It's not really economical to do ALL the different conversions, better go with Westy. |

So dude, PM me when you have a few ready. I'll take 3 for a reasonable price, shipped to my Colorado address (not Hungary). I have no idea what sizes fit me in what brand of T shirt you're using, so I'm 6'3, 175 lbs... sometimes that's XL. If I can put in a few cents on color, anything but black...I'm so sick of black Ts... nice, friendly VW colors! Just make sure the shirts are HIGH QUALITY!! I've bought stuff like this before and after 1 single wash, the neck was so stretched out I flashed back to my own birth when I put it on!
Can't wait! |

Will do. I'm planning on spending my lunch hour re-drawing that tin-top (or maybe modify to westy) in a heavy-outline, vector format. I might be able to finish in one hour, maybe not. Might be a coupe weeks before I get around to printing - and I'll have to order shirts too. If I get the drawing done, I'll post a digital mockup. That will get your stoke going.
I usually print on Hanes Beefy-Ts. I hate those thin ones too. I'll probably get a mix of colors and just post up what's available, first come, first served. You'll see 'em. And I find that mostly Large is in demand, with a handful of XLs and mediums and a few smalls. It's a bell curve on that one.
Prices as low as possible to make it worth doing. Cover the cost of shirts, inks and time - and maybe just a little gravy for the artists :) We'll see how it goes. Under $20 for sure. |
