Haynes Beefies in L wind-up up shrinking to meduim. X to large, XXL to X, depending on the amount of cotton and the dryer setting.

You think this will get approved?

Daverham Fri Oct 23, 2009 9:58 am

I've already converted to a late westy style.... Will have this thing radically transformed into a smooth illustration by this afternoon...

What's the vote - early or late style? I can't afford to print both, that's too fine of a detail level and making screens costs money and time.

There will have to be a limited number of versions - very limited. Obviously a Westy and a Tin-Top. They can be early or late, but not version of each. If we had to choose THREE designs. What would they be? Here's 3 ideas to start.

1. Early Tin-top, lightly lowered
2. Late Westy, top down.
3. Early Riviera (small top) top-up

Other ideas:
- Single cab
- High-top
- Spare tire on nose (yes/no)
- panel van
- etc.

Here we go... this won't be a can of opinion worms, will it? I'm taking opinions and then doing whatever I want, for the record. It's not a democratic vote, so make your suggestions now and I'll do my best to please the majority.

Here is the late Westy - still in sketch form (I just noticed gas door, hmmm)...

Bingo.

If you go back to the previous posting you'll see a bunch of better pics to start with. That's a pencil drawing ant that's why it scans crappy like that. If you look at the darker images those are drawn with a fineline marker and look a little sharper. I've always wanted to see it on a shirt but there's so much "make it this way" "put my wheels on it" "put a slider window in" That it just kinda sucks the fun out of it. You just can't keep everyone happy. I'll do a low light westy and post it in an hour but there's alot of versions I put up before so maybe there should be a poll on the most liked design.

By "vw friendly colors" do you mean something that can hide an oil stain?

Can you do one with a Weber Progressive?? :P

Traveling Writer Fri Oct 23, 2009 10:48 am

Actually, seriously, what if you ditch the license plate?? It would look a bit better, I think... not a deal breaker, just IMHO.

HAHA yeah, no dice unless it's got a 009. And it'd BETTER have a Bentley in there somewhere, or nobody on here will buy it!

But on a serious note, I'd say the three candidates you have down are winners. No spare tire, maybe a panel in there instead of the Rivi? Maybe. Just my $0.02

Daverham Fri Oct 23, 2009 11:12 am

Opinions are fine - good way to get ideas that I might not think of. Webers - great idea.

Don't worry about the line quality of the sketches - I saw the better ones, but it doesn't matter. I'm going to totally re-draw it by hand, it's gonna look AWESOME, wait and see.... total radness transformation, coming up.

If you take that blue penciled drawing and narrow the nose fresh air intake grill a bit and dont' put any lights on it other than the headlights, it will appeal to both Early and Late Bay Bussers. I would think you would make a better sale with one product that will suit all and be more cost effective for your endeavor. You may want to take some of the camber out of the front wheels, but it does look kinda cool as is.....

chazz79 Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:26 pm

There's a plain early bay transporter

There's an early westy

They all have weber progressives on them, along with p-rated tires. There's bong toking hippies rollin' inside. I don't think I can ditch the plate though because I'm an ohioan and as such I gotta keep 'em legal....

Do an animated shirt and you will have the market wrapped up.

Here's how I'm livin'.

Lots of color possibilities. Those too will have to be limited. Like I said, I'm going to have to order shirts, find time when I'm not working on my REAL bus, etc... print them by hand, one at a time, etc. I'll let you know what happens, and post a proper classified ad at that time - and a heads up here on this thread too.

Keep the input/ideas/suggestions coming. Webers - check. Stinger - check. Chrome shift knob - done. Pertronix - done. What else?

Daverham Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:01 pm

Here's a 2-color idea (black outline, light-blue fill), smaller bus. That's twice the printing/work/expense. Is it cool enough to be worth it?

420GOAT Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:02 pm

a Weber IDF shirt would be badass.

Daverham Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:04 pm

Yeah, parts drawings would be cool.... maybe a T1 engine or a 009... haha

chazz79 Fri Oct 23, 2009 1:09 pm

Good work there. Feel free to retouch anything I put out. It doesn't bruise my ego too much as long as you keep the spirit of what I started with.
