So my clutch fork broke so I pulled the engine to fix it and found this:
I've been searching and searching and haven't found a single picture like this so I'm throwing these up. I don't suspect that it happened when the fork broke because I immediately had the car off and on the side of the road, so it means that it was an ongoing thing. Any ideas? |

| Looks like it was barely touching, i'd suggest a new clutch set, as well as the fork, and bushings, and make sure the engine is seated all the way to the trans when reassembling, with all the bolts and nuts. |

| Ok I guess that could make sense. Another thing, when I first installed the new PP awhile back, after I was driving for a bit I would hear a clacking sound. You would only hear it when moving, not when stationary, and also whenever I accelerated or braked. Also the sound just didnt start immediately, but happened after I was driving for a bit. If I pushed the clutch pedal in a little bit the noise would cease. To solve this noise I adjusted the T/O bearing back enough to where the noise stopped occurring all together. This might have caused the PP and clutch to be barley touching when I shifted. However this brings up the question of what was causing the knocking sound when the clutch was properly adjusted? |

While you got the engine out, I would suggest checking the crankshaft end play.
Thats all I can think of right now, hope someone else chimes in with their opinion. |

| Bell housing is clear and its a brand new engine so no play, or at least i hope. I'm actually leaning towards the PP because like I said before it happened earlier right after I installed this kennedy plate. I never had the sound or any issue before, but my original PP was falling apart so I changed it. I think I might head down and grab a stock one tomorrow to see if that cures the problem. |

| Update: Ok so I put back in the old pressure plate today and I ahve yet to have a problem. Drove it around and then took it to get gas and nothing. So I'm assuming it was the pressure plate. If thats the case, then maybe they gave me the wrong size? The Kennedy plate was a 200mm, but i'm not sure what size the original is. Its a 69 bug with a IRS tranny. |

| Update: Well the noise is still there I guess. Its not as bad but still there. i have no idea what could possibly be wrong. Like I said before its only when braking and accelerating and actually sometimes goes away when i lightly press on the clutch and let it off. But either way the noise is somehow associated with the clutch. The only thing I haven't changed now is the clutch itself. Could that cause a noise? |
