Wow,you guys have some really nice rails & tubs there.
Here's my rail:
It's a late '70's Protec short back frame that was left for dead when I found it in '07. I modified baja bumpers to fit and fabbed up matching tree bars and added bracing. Engine is a tired ass 1641cc found in a field attached to a rusty hulk that was once a baja. I installed a pair of Weber 34-ict's (yes, they suck when off roading). The suspension is bone stock IRS VW with a link pin beam w/adjusters. It still has the sway bar and I don't even run gas shocks (I know, I know it sucks for the off road) but it has lots of ground clearance and I mostly use it around town anyway.

I went though all the Missouri guidelines to get a "specially constructed vehicle" vin tag and title. It is now street legal. Then I sewed together a canvas snap on body kit. I have driven it ~ 2200 miles since I first got it on the road in 9/07. As much as I would like to change it to make mid or long travel the frame itself sucks, but hell...it was free and I've got less than $900 in it like it sits. I'm just going to have fun with it the way it is.

I built this nearly 30 years ago when I was 21. It's long gone right now, but the memories still remain.

Berrien 902 longback, it went through several revisions of Dub motors before ending up with a Turbo Corvair. It was 95% on-road use with street radials but I had a set of weenies for the sand, too. Shot taken on Ocracoke Island, NC in about 1983. (Cape Hatteras)

My road tested, but as yet not dirt tested dual-sport Sears Rascal dune buggy. Just finished in August of 2009.

2108cc Chenowth Turbocharged and MegaSquirted.

Also has a CUSTOM BUILT BASTARD TRANSMISSION consisting of a 5 rib case, fat 3 rib gears, the final drive from a 6 rib, and the factory locking super diff from a vanagon synchro. I can go anywhere........

1970's (not exactly sure) High Jumper RS frame. Picked it up in Grandfathers garage in 2003. New 1835cc motor, Weber 44 single, rebuilt close ratio swing axle tranny and more.[/url]

Orginally a Chenoweth 2LWD with the factory offroad and body package. I had the roof raised 6 inches as well for added head room. Built for the dirt as I'm not a sand guy. She has only been in the sand twice. Since these pictures were taken I have upgraded the rear suspension to coilovers. I'm running a 6 inch wider chromoly beam with +2.5 arms and combo spindles with Fox shocks. The rear has 3x3's with race preped 930's from Kartec and full Sway A Way torsions and axles and King Kong adjusters. Power plant was a 2180 mated to a 002 tranny. I also ran a Corvair which was by far my favorite. Respectivly 12 inches of travel all the way around.

It is a 12 inch wide rim, with some Mickey Thompson Sportsman S/R 29x15.00R15LT tires. Only downside is not being able to balance something that big. So far it's not bad. I am mostly doing city driving with it. They stick really well. To the point I am worried about busting the bolts holding them on or trashing the trans.

Here ya go, our race buggy, rollcage and frame is a fair bit heavier than most here but we have to meet MSA/FIA specs for it, and the extra stiffness helps the suspension do it's job properly, same with the parachute-style mudguards, regulations!

As you can see, it's not exactly pretty :lol:
