| I was on a trip this last weekend on highway 60 in Florida, found a spot with no one in sight, I got Velma up to 76.7mph according to the Garmin. She ran great, I was very proud. Whats your number? |

I've gotten it up to 90 mph a few times too for a few seconds, given enough of a flat or downhill road. Stock 2.0L engine with L-Jet and a Pertronix. I have no problem cruising 70-80 mph on the highway. My speedometer is accurate too, I've benched it with the GPS. |

| I was racing my buddies and according to my speedo i went about 95ish for about 3 seconds. I was super paranoid at those speeds so i only did it just see the limit of my bus. After i went back down to normal cruising speeds it ran funny and lost power for a bit, haha. |

about 60mph. Ahahaha. It spent 99% of the time driving on twisty roads in the hills under widely varying conditions. Most of the speed limits were way below that anyway.
The only times I can really think of where I had a flat run of road was when I was towing a trailer, and when the speed limit was 60 too. Oh ,and when it dropped a valve seat :(
I'm translating for you imperial fossils. Roughly 100km/h, but mostly 80 and 60km/h roads were my bays stomping grounds. It's even running a 1600 box to better help with the hills.
With front suspension about as stiff as a rubber band you wouldn't want to go any faster either. I really need a new leaf pack for the front. |

Never been over 60 except to pass somebody who was actually going slower than 60mph. I am my grandpa.

You're really doing that 2.0 an injustice. That's slow even for a T1 Bus.
I've had mine up to 90 a few times, nothing scary about it. Smooth, easy, effortless. |

80+ but not very often. 65-75 is the sweet spot for this one.
Shocks, steering damper, and correct tires made these speeds 'More Funner°' in the bus! I'd previously been driving in the scary sway-mobile@! Although I'm hyper alert in the bus, good stability has allowed me to be more relaxed in high speed, heavy traffic, and or windy conditions when doing 60+. It's nice that when the semi passes I'm not... tensing up for the wind, ... wait for it.....ok, hold it..... and then release. ...Yeah, I like stability .. a lot |

| I've done 70 on the flat in Kombia ( 1974 Standard Station Wagon with a carbed 1800 ). She'd do more, but I never attempted to push her harder than that. |

I've had it wrapped all the way around once too on a hill...but I only have a pic of it at 80. I usually cruise between 75 and 80 on the gauge, which seems to keep me going only a little slower than the other freeway traffic.
Now bear in mind, this is most certainly not the actual speed  I'm doing between 65-70 in that photo. The primary purpose of my speedometer is to scare my passengers. |

I buried that needle once, somewhere crossing between Arizona and New Mexico, I40 somewhere around Gallup.
Felt good, but felt better to slow down after that.
Never again. I have a GPS now to verify, but I also have a BMW for those moments..... 8) |

Dude, you'd be able to go faster if you took off the parking brake! :D :D
I took this on the way home from a campout. On the way out, I had terrible side-winds that forced slow driving. On the way home, they had shifted a bit and were from behind! The bus had a bit more room for acceleration at this point, but I was getting nervous.

i pegged my speedo on the drive home from buying my bus this past spring.
after that i promised myself id rebuild the entire front end before i ever did it again ;)
i usually cruise about 60-5 b/c my tires need updated bad.
once i get some properly rated tires with better tread on them ill probably bring it up to 70-75
i get up to 80 without even hesitating to pass people all the time.
alot of power for a itty bitty 1700
then again i have 125 (+ / - ) 2psi on all 4 cylinders :) |
