I think if you "listen" to the bus it will let you know where it is happy.
Dan
If I listened to my bus I'd never go over 45! :P |

| until the skin on the nose got so red hot we couldn't touch it. The whole bus was shaking and then lightning hit us. I can't tell you what happened next as I just awoke from a coma and they tell me that when they found me I was laughing hysterically about some 16 year old wanting to know how fast a VW bus would go like two guys pissing out by the barn to see who could get theirs to go further then a horse walked up. |

SWMBO reminds me that I can't afford another speeding ticket! So I continue to motor the DD along @ 70mph on cruise control; this in a vehicle that's good for an honest 155+.
I guess that makes it logical then, to cruise at 55mph in the '68 Westy that's actually gone 93mph. Anyway it runs cool, gets decent fuel mileage, & is relatively quiet at 55... and there's no 'backseat driver' griping re. excessive speed! Life is good @ 55mph. |

60 is my normal max. Would prefer to hold it down to 55. And have probably had it to 70 a couple times. A good stocker T-1 will do 85 or so. And would have no problem with racing another stocker or near stocker on top end. First I'd have to readjust the throttle to give full travel. Which I never give it full throttle.
The biggest issue is how fast or how far. I drive for the long run. |

| Given how fast people go with their 1600 I'm becoming convinced mine has a really short final drive ratio. I only took it up to 110km/h a couple of times and the motor was really screaming. IIRC there are some 3 ribs that are geared a bit differently aren't there? Because I'm in Australia perhaps some kind of different euro spec transmission or something. |

bugs are splattered against my rear window, those bastards never look where they are flying.
i hit 72 once.
scarcely over 60 now, and it takes about 2 miles to get that fast. I think my engine will last a good long while. |

| Ha! As fast I could push it. No but myself Ive gotten it up to about 86 with the fuel injected engine, the new carbs I hope will improve on that. I actually didn't think it was that bad feeling... |
