My 1978 Kombi has no rear seat belts. Were they this way from factory?

not if it was sold in the USA. People took them out as they got in the way especially if the rear seats were never used.

A kombi might have come with no belts if it was M coded for no back seat, keep in mind a Kombi is a cargo van and seats are an add on for that model. Although one that late likely has holes for belts anyways.

Sorry, I said Kombi because it said that on the title. It is a Westfalia pop top with the rear most seat the type that folds down flat also to be part of the lower rear bed. That seat is the one in question with no belts.

Then you have a Wesftalia camper, not a Kombi. Have you checked under the seat for the belts? Most times they get shoved under the seat when it's folded out to a bed. No, it didn't come without belts from the factory.

Same answer, a kombi may not have belts unless it was M coded as for Westfalia conversion. Sure it's a genuine Westfalia and not an OTW camper or backyard hack?
Either way it's very likely there's threaded holes on the sloping firewall and fenderwells behind the seat, if you are looking for them they are kinda at the same level as the gap between the bottom and back cushions. Like this: l.l .. .. l.l <wheelwell. |
