Looking good! Isnt it a really sweet feeling when the chassis is under the bus? I couldnt almost belive it when it happened to me. Keep it up!

Time for some updates...

The engine compartment is now finished. It is just waiting for some paint.

Lately I have been working on the long side. I have repaired the bottom end of the two support pillars for the long side. It feels sweet to get more and more of the body welded againts the chassis :D

Tomorrow I hope I will be able to put the long side sill in place.

You gotta want it !!! Good work!

I love the collaboration and support shown in this thread!

Fine adjusted the long sill today and finally I got to weld it in place. This is the spot on the bus to be very carefull on when welding :D I use compressed air to cool the spots after each weld.

Unfortunately I had to work on one of my other buses for a while therfore no updates in this thread. Tonight however I went out in the garage and attacked the old rusty b-pillar

I had to cut it open from behind to be able to get access to the two hinge screws. I cut them from behind and then cut the b-pillar.

Then I could mount the new b-pillar over the door hinge and measure it into position.

To verify that the pillar got into the correct position I took a late style NOS dogleg and testfitted it along the pillar. It all ended up good.

Wohow :o NICE nize! Ready for Bug run 2010? :D

After some minor adjustments of the three parts of the pillar and taking a couple of measurements of the door opening I finally mounted all three pieces of the pillar.

ehhee... Not really...
Going for Bad Camberg instead and even that will be hard to make. All those little things that you tend to forget.

Ok its time for an update folks!

Lately I have been working alot with the issue that me and my family is moving. We are going to move down to the south parts of Sweden and moving a house full of stuff is a big issue but also moving a garage full of parts and cars is even worse

However one good thing with that is that it has forced me to get my barndoor on wheels in order to get it rollin again. I have been working a bit without updates here. I have come a long way but there is alot left to do to. Gladly I heard that the latest shipment of Gerson metal is now at Musclebus place. That will help me as soon as I am up and running in my new garage...

This is my new garage wits HUGE potential:

And this is how the barndoor looks at the moment:

Standing on a 1959 beetle straight axle but that is just temporary. A later beetle gearbox will go in after the move.

Wow, that new garage is something else. I can only imagine how many buses you could fit in there. Awesome job on your ride. Truly motivation for all of us.

barndoorbarnfind Tue Aug 03, 2010 11:22 am

Wow  you have to visit us with it when you are done!

Not really Scotty...
The frame parts from the cab divider to the front is left to do. Including changing cab divider, front wheel wells, repair the frame rails and light bulb support panel. But there is a light in the tunnel :P
