View original topic: remote battery connection?

Has anyone ever installed a remote hot connection for the battery? I've seen this on other cars from the factory where the battery is in a hard to reach spot, they put in a remote positive terminal under the hood so it's easy to connect for a jump or clip on a trouble light, or whatever.

I'm thinking that since the battery is under the rear seat, and I'm a nice guy and help people out by giving them a jump once in a while (a lost art, I've found!), I was thinking of putting a remote hot connection somewhere that's easier to get at, like maybe on the back side of the fire wall.

Searched on here, can't find anything so far about something like this. I know it's possible, just curious if anyone's done it and can offer any advice or do's/don'ts.

Thanks!

I've never seen a remote hot connection (probably because I'm 17 and this is my first car) but I would assume at LEAST make a cap for it to avoid fucking something up.

Common sense, though. I would assume it would be as simple as just running a cable (I'd use just a ground cable, doesn't matter the color as long as you know it's not really a ground, obviously) and run it where it's needed.

I am going to do the exact thing you are thinking about doing.

I was going to use these or something similar. http://www.jegs.com/p/Moroso/Moroso-Remote-Battery-Jumper-Terminals/751819/10002/-1

I was just going to put them somewhere easily accessible in the engine compartment. That way I can help people out or in the event of my battery going dead it would be simple to jump the bug off instead of pulling out the backseat to get to it.

Hope this helps.

Jegs, Summit Racing, Yearwood, any of these outfits will have what you want.
