looking for some info on hightops. I have a 69 westy with a sun roof stuck in the hole and found a high roof for sale not to far away wasnt sure if they would fit all bays. i think it is on a 76 bay now. Also are these hightops open all the way around on the inside or just the sunroof hole? Any pics and info would be great.

They are cut open wide from what I gather, otherwise what's the point? '69 Westy into a high top is kind of a waste if you ask me.
I'd totally get a ragtop. ;)

I have a metal sunroof stuck up there and duck tape around it. My fibewrglass pop top is trashed and cant seem to find one down here in La.

Thanks for the pic is there any additional supports needed in the roof?

Kinda seems like the pics answers that question pretty well. The hightop is supported by the gutters, not the roof.

What kind of high roof? The Westy pop top uses the stock sunroof hole. There are aftermarket jobs that cut out the whole roof. Is it on a bus now? How was it installed?

The hi-top is an excellent cure for your problem. Toss that roof up there and you've eliminated tons of work and added versatility to your bus. You don't have to cut the roof up and I believe someone around here had a bus with your exact problem.... I cant remember the dudes user name but his bus looked like a cleveland browns mobile.

What kind of high roof? The Westy pop top uses the stock sunroof hole.

A Westfalia isn't a high roof, and they only used the stock sunroof hole up to 1973. The hole is much bigger from 1974 on.

After seeing the green one with the roof removed, I kinda wanna find a hightop, pop the roof off like that, and roll it! It's the closest you can get to having a bay window 'vert!

Kinda thinking about puttting top on it and just rolling it like that with stock westy hole. Still trying to get in touch with the guy in Tx that has the high roof for sale.

Well here is what fastmc25's adventurewagen Clyde looked like without the top.

I don't see why you couldn't just put a top on it.

Too bad you are not out here in So. Calif. as there is a VW yard in Lake Elsinore with many high tops, Westys and Riverias there..... :wink:

Thats the thing about the south hard to find parts and buses. In La its not to many people that mess with Buses. Then I have one old hippie that has about 20 or 30 rusting away and he wont sale anything. I think I have seen that bus in Shrevport La
