I am lowering a buddies 68 beetle but I am trying to put the drum and bearings on the drop spindle but the back bearing won't slide on the shaft after a certain point. I don't remember having any issue with mine. I forgot if there was a different size bearing for the drop spindle conversion  Thanks!!!

Also, they a balljoint drum brake drop spindles.

There are two different sized inner bearings from 66- 68 1/2 and 68 1/2 and later. You probably have the early inner bearings and the new spindles are the later size.

What make are the spindles? Some of the empi ones you have to smooth the part where the bearing rides to make it fit right.

Not sure, didn't see a stamp on them. I rub them down with emory cloth but looks like alot need to be sanded according to where the bearing left a notch in the spindle. Thanks.
