How in the world do you get the plastic tube that goes between the upper and lower brake fluid reserviors to seal??? I got my rebuilt booster and new master cylinder all buttoned up under there and poured in the fluid to fill er up so I could bleed the brakes and noticed a steady drip. Its coming from where the stupid connector line fits onto the lower reservior as well as where it fits onto the upper reservoir. So now I can't finish the job. The pipe is not broken or cracked and no matter how I tighten up those plastic line clamps the dang thing still pours brake fluid out as soon as I add it. Help!! Is there a seal I'm supposed to have on both ends? Or another type of line I can use that's resistant to being broken down by brake fluid? Large inside diameter fuel line maybe? What a pain in the butt. Hope this makes sense.

Yes, there is a rubber seal at both ends of the pipe. If you don't have new ones, you will have a leak. You can order em up from any online VW parts supplier.

Are any one vendors better than the other as far as ease of fitment and quality go? or are they all the same, you know, like something you would get from cip1 would not be as good as say wcm or oeveedub. ??

I was able to make one of these seals out of a small section of rubber hose......when I needed one.

Those are they....Wolfsburg West is always good quality. I haven't really done any comparison on this bit of rubber from various vendors, but you can almost never go wrong with WW. Good choice. |

9 bucks to ship 2 cents worth of rubber the size of my pinky. What a bunch of crap. Ah well.

those are available from Busdepot, Bughaus, Wolfsburg, BusBoys, probably airhead parts to. You might shop shipping because they can go first class mail or even priority mail cheaper than $9. We bought spares so that if we needed them again we didn't have to pay postage again.
Also we bought the correct lower reservior from Bughaus which is a heck of a lot easier than trying to clean out the old one. Evenone else had the version where the nipple was in the wrong direction. |

I found some oem ones in the ads section. Got 2 for 9.50 shipped. Score! And my original reservoir is in good shape.

Ok, so the guy can't find the seals. So I'm still without them. Found another solution though. I found a peice of flexible fuel line that fit over the nipples on the reservoirs perfectly. Sealed up just fine. No leaks. Looks good and let me get my brakes going again. Any thoughts?

Thoughts? Yes. I'ts not good. Someone else did this type of thing recently also. The problem is compatability, or rather lack of, with brake fluid. Different material is required. Get the correct sleeves. What you did will work but only for a very short time.

Still waiting on the correct seals to get here. Talked to the guy a few minutes ago and he's hoping to send them out by weeks end.

So I went to bleed the brakes today and one of the darn bleeder valves broke off in the wheel cylinder. So now I've got to replace the wheel cylinders. And when I pump the brakes the bus still loses rpms...... I just put a new master cylinder on it as well as the booster rebuilt.

Your idle mixture is too lean if the RPM's drop when you pump the brakes and you know the booster is good. They should increase slightly.

Busdaddy, would having a non stock exhaust system on the bus cause this? I'm running with a header and a glasspack right now. Still have the stock muffler though. ???

set your idle mixture richer by a 1/4 turn and see if that helps. If it doesn't go another 1/4 turn. Count how many times you have to do it in case your find something else wrong and need to go back. Who did your brake booster rebuild?

Can you adjust the idle mix on a f.I. system? Hk auto in tx did the rebuild.
