I have a 1600 single port that is stock I noticed todatythat right under the carb where it bolts to the manifold is ice cold after driving it for 10 miles. Is this normal if not what might be the problem and how do I fix it.

are your pre heat tubes getting warm they could be blocked up with rust or the muffler could be welded up where the bolt on this would cause carb icing or manifold frosting, saw it yesterday on a club members car after a 10 mile trek

Remove the manifold, take an old speedo cable and chuck about 18" of it in a cordless drill, and ream out the heat riser tube, it sounds like it's all carboned up. Remember to have the cable spinning the right direction so it won't unravel.
You might have to use some WD-40 or P-Blaster with it.

Last year, I found the heat crossover was solidly plugged. I finally had to get a 12 inch long drill bit from Ace Hardware and drill from the bends to the center in order to open the tube up. Then I just welded up the holes I had made in the bends. The tube can get so solid the only thing that will cut is a drill bit.

You might want to go down to the hardware store and buy a few short pieces of cable of varying thicknesses and chucking them in your drill.
