have a 1970 VW bug, has a new steering column wiring harness, non of the lights on the dash are working

the fuel guage works when i use a jumper wire from the fuse block to the sending unit wire(speedo side)

the high beam indicator light stays on whether the high beams are on or the low beams are on - ONLY when the lights are on though, when lighs are off, the indicator turns off

the turn signal indicators do not work, but the turn signals work as normal

all fuses are good and i have a wiring diagram, but the mess of wires makes it difficult to trace wires

if anyone has an idea of where i should start please let me know, i need to get the thing inspected

Thanks in Advance

do they even check that during inspections? in new york, my guy wouldn't, I don't think he checked anything LOL...take it during the day (sorry for not giving a direct answer, but that wouldn't hold me up here if I needed an inspection)

Start at the beginning. Get rid of needless wires. Make it simple. If you can, group your wires in separate groups. Harness, lights, etc.

i dont think they really check here in TX either but this is going to be a DD and ive had a car with no dash lights before, it sucked

im gonna try to simplify all the wiring, but im terrible with wires and tracing them
