I would like to know if the bug pack truss bar can be fitted on my squareback. Also: does the tranny need to be removed to insall.

Thanks.

If you don't have solid sub frame mounts, the truss bar will not be very effective. You most likely will still have some wheel hop because of the rubber subframe mounts.

Old rubber on the left. Solid on the right.

I purchased my kit from T3D. Last I heard ISP was in the process of having them made. Not sure on the status.....

Thanks Critter,
Where'd you get them?

He said T3D. Type Three Detectives. I think they're in the UK but don't hold me to that. They are across an ocean someplace.

Yea T3D is in the UK, which sucks because the exchange rate is not in our favor. Jaycee or Geers (can't remember which) have made them on a "one off" basis. You could try them.. I'd suggest talking to Anthony at ISP. The more demand for a product, the more likely they'll get it made and on the shelf. Its definitely on their to-do list.

I believe the bugpack truss bar is too short... our kafer type 3 bar is currently out of stock due to us ( manufacturing ) plus I wanted to improve it a little bit...

as for the solid mounts, I have a sample set here waiting to go into my own car, USA made, as soon as I have some "garage" time to work on it...

ill link a photo below...

Thanks guys. I'll look around for some mounts on this continent.

old school beamer 101 clickey... the best keyboard in the world... each key is a micro switch... not a membrane type...

camping hinges come with my car if interested...

Anthony,

Any plan on manufacturing a run of these mounts?

PIMPPRIDE Wed Nov 04, 2009 3:03 pm

yes, but I am also working on air cleaners and dual carb linkage setup to complement them

I want to have everything in place for sale & fitment at the same time

Quote: dual carb linkage setup to complement them

have you seen the new dual carb linkage Jake has coming out?

That would be a nice addition for stock solex set ups, so far they are available for weber, dell, and IDA's

What's the ballpark figure on what a set of the solid mounts will cost?

68squareizm Wed Nov 04, 2009 7:13 pm

Could new stock sub frame mounts better my wheel hop situation? I'm sure mine are the ones the car was born with.

The bugpack truss bar is not built to properly triangulate the rear and support the frame horns. The top bar will flex when stress is applied to the frame horns.

VDub Engineering sells a nice set up, I have two of them and I have never had wheel hop on the street or the strip. It would be worth talking to Lanner about a type 3 application. He made changes to mine based on my application.

No the transmission doesn't need to be removed, but you may want to upgrade your transmission mount to a HD Bugpack version.

Not a type3 but you get the idea of how the bars tie everything together to make a more solid platform.

Quote: I would like to know if the bug pack truss bar can be fitted on my squareback. Yes. I had to cut off approximately 1” from each end of the top bar to fit on my 65 notchback. See link to pictures of the bar installed. http://www.flickr.com/photos/19747670@N05/sets/72157603070667909/show/

No, While supporting the tranmission remove the hardware from 2 cradle rubber mounts. Raise the transmisson just enough to gain access to the 2 cradle/horn bolts. Remove and slide mounts between horn and front cradle.

Quote: If you don't have solid sub frame mounts, the truss bar will not be very effective. You most likely will still have some wheel hop because of the rubber subframe mounts. The truss bar eliminate the wheel hop that I was experincing. I'm sure that new rubber subframe mounts could also help.
