While cramming a cardboard box in the back seat I put a nice gash in the otherwise perfect headliner. Stupid, stupid, stupid... The question: How hard and expensive is it to replace? It's torn between the bows. It's a '71 sb. And, no, I am not going to sell it an buy and oval.

Well don't feel too bad, I've done the same. I bought a vinyl repair kit that supposedly will fix it without a trace. Have not tried it yet, but when I do I will post my results. Can't remember what brand it is, I'll look tonite and post so you know. Is what's funny is I did this about 4 days ago, what a coincidence, considering it was a cardboard box too!! Good Luck!

I installed one from California Pacific a few years ago and the quality was good. They even have an installation video to show you how to do it. It's not that hard of a job to do,the hardest part is removing and installing the glass. Don't know the price. The website is www.calpacificvw.com Good luck

I did a headliner about a year ago. It wasn't too hard, but I think that most people go have it done professionally.
If you do decide to attack it yourself, there are a few pointers that you might consider.
1 As mentioned by someone earlier, there is a good video for about $20, that explains each step of the way.
2 There are 2 options for the 71 SB headliner. One is a one piece liner, and the other has a separate piece of vinyl for around the back window. The one piece is much easier to install, but the other looks stock.
3 Unless you have a little mre patience than me, I would reccomend having a moble glass guy reinstall the windshield. It's not that expensive, and those suckers break pretty easily. The other windows seem to be much more forgiving.
My two cents, I hope that it helps.
