Ok, I finally got my bug engine to run, I don't have a tach, so I don't know what rpms it is running at (I'm going to get a tach soon) when I took this video it was running at a higher rate than when it actually idles, and when it idles, it kind of shakes a lot, is that normal?
Is the rate that it is at in the video what it should be idling at? Should I take another video?
Please check out the video :(

All suggestions are appreciated! |

| It should not shake that much. I would suggest you have a vacuum leak. |

i use carb cleaner and spray suspected areas while the car is running and wait for a change in rpms.
you may also want to check the condition of your cradle mounts |

Check your intake boot seals make sure the intake iself is sitting inside the manifolds, and check everything on your intake system, and deffinitly check your tranny/motor/cradle mounts it would not rock that much.
usually something you do before you install a engine, but since its your first one? lol its cool. |

Thanks for the help guys
I have the how to keep your volkswagen alive book but am still struggling with the terms
Quote: Check your intake boot seals make sure the intake iself is sitting inside the manifolds, and check everything on your intake system, and deffinitly check your tranny/motor/cradle mounts it would not rock that much.
are you talking about the air filter? The air filter I have doesn't have a rubber boot at the bottom, it just sits on top of the carb
I'll look into the motor mounts, I'll see if the book has them, it'd be nice if it was because the motor mounts weren't all the way tight, I got this car from a guy and it ran rough

Do I have to worry about things catching on fire if I do that? Where are the cradle mounts?
Sorry, this is my 1st air cooled, I supercharged my jetta, but this motor is so foreign to me |

Sorry. I'll fix it.

Henceforth, we shall no longer advise new VW owners to remove the potentially dangerous accessory fuel filter from their engine compartments, and let them take their chances with engine fire.
So let it be written. So let it be done.

| The rubber vacuum plugs on the back of your carb look a bit dried out and cracked. Check those with the spray. |

I totally agree on changing the location, the fuel filter rests on a pipe right now
you guys recommend locating it to the front of the car in the trunk? Any pics where? |
