Why do theses need to be replaced.Ive got the body off now are they a reason other than looks.?
How hard is it to replace a gear shifter assembly also it would look nicer while im trying to restore things. |

They are inexpensive and easy to change so if they are greasy or cracked looking or the metal has become unbonded from the rubber ( use a prybar to check) and you see they are bad change them.
