| Newbie with 72 SB, another new one...after starting car and getting plates, filled it with fresh gas and a bottle of gumout, figured it couldn't hurt, car sat for 2 years. After another week, getting gas smell and noticed the drain plug is seeping from bottom of tank, maybe the gumout solvent attacked the 30+ year old gasket? Can that plug be tightened with a large allen hex key or is it a push in, don't want to touch it and make it worse until I can get it to a shop and on a lift, never mind getting a face full of gas? Once I run the tank down, then I can empty it and replace the gasket, but for now the tank is full and just wondering if a snug on the plug will stop it? Thanks. |

it's a screw plug, but it doesn't have a lot of threads in the tank, so be careful.

| Thanks, most informative, I'k gonna let the shop do it in case its stripped or what's left of the gasket twists out and then I have real problem! |
