| A couple of years ago while at a Bug show in NC, my headlight switch went out. Well I live in Va, none of the venders had any for sale. To make it back home (6hours) I twisted all the wires together in a wire nut. It has worked for me so far. I'm wanting to put in a toggle switch but not sure what I need. Any and all advice would be appreciated. |

Not sure which of your bugs you are refering to so I've added links for both types of headlight circuits from Speedy Jim's site:

A new switch is $20!
Toggle switches don't belong in a Beetle and you would lose the ability to dim the dash lights. Also you would need a DPDT with off position as the headlights and running lights have different power sources. (#30 & #X)

| You can readily find them for sale in the Samba Classifieds. Why rig it when you can get the proper switch????? |

I bought a replacement light switch (Brazillian made) from Bap-Geon here in Norfolk. |
