I have a 71 super vert (RHD -- but that should not matter I think). The horn works fine for the most part. But, when the steering wheel is turned left about 30-45deg, it stops working.
Where should I start looking? since it it is steering wheel angle dependent, it should be a horn issue, but a circuit issue somewhere on the steering column. But, I'm not familiar with the horn circuit in this area and thought I'd ask.
Thx.

Hi,
If you take the steering wheel off you will probably see the problem imediately. There is a copper strip that is part of the indicator switch that makes contact with a copper ring that is attached to the underside of the steering wheel. Chances are that either one or both of these is worn. So you may have to buy a new indicator switch and possibly the copper ring too. I had a similar problem and I replaced the switch but it didnt fully solve the problem as the copper ring on the steering wheel had worn also and the two surfaces didnt match. A new copper ring on the steering wheel and that fixed it.
Hope this helps
