I have a 71 bus with a type 2 motor... I am installing a type 4 1.7 It is a motor only.. Wondering what kind of exoust and heater boxes I need to have a heater in my bus? And also was wondering if the carbs and intakes off my type 2 will work on this motor? Thanks.. Gary

You want to find a complete set of T-4 bus heater boxes, controls, and other parts. Do not use the heater boxes off of a 411/412, they will fit fine, but you will get little heat. The preferred install is the exhaust system from a 72-74 bus, but the parts for later 75-78 buses would do.

Your best bet for a fuel system would be either a set of dual carbs or FI. I would recommend avoiding going with a progressive Holley/Weber setup. A Type 1 fuel system will not work for you.

Gary - are you changing piston sizes in your 1971 motor and retaining the upright fan or are you saying you are going to fit a later pancake motor into it? (I read your post "type 4" but I want to verify this with you) The later motors are completely different and will require other mods to fit. That is my understanding. The heater boxes and carbs are completely different. If you are simply changing the piston size or stroke on your engine then you can use the old parts.
