There was a new(?) show on HD Theater last night called "Beetle Crisis" where a couple of British dudes try to restore a crusty 71 Beetle. Anyone watch it? Is this a new show or am I just re-posting? The show doesn't look too bad, although they played the first segment twice so part of it was missed. The wife of one of the guys thought he was nuts with his VW obsession. Sounded real familiar.

I watched it again, though. Never did see the full series to see how they finished up. Will have to try to stick with it this time around. Looks like they're into a real junker....

I saw the whole series. Not really for the purist, but the car was a borderline 'lost cause'. Turned out to be a pretty unique mild custom, but it's one of those "love it or hate it" kinda cars.

It's just cool to see a bug project in HD. Gives us 'lost cause' owners some inspiration to finish.

This is one of three different "Crisis" series. There is a Camper Van Crisis and a Beetle Crisis 2.

I downloaded beetle crisis 1 and campervan crisis and burned them onto a dvd. They are both actually pretty good. Havent seen beetle crisis 2 yet. Anybody know where it can be downloaded at?

Those DVDs are Region 2 (UK). There are many programs available that remove regional coding along with other "annoyances". In addition, you can change the region on your computer's DVD drive up to 5 or 10 (I forget which) times.

It seems they only play the first one on HD Theater which I've already seen. I'd like to watch the other 2 as well.

it turned out pretty nice considering what they started with. They missed Spa and finally ended up driving it to Brighton (?) for a show wiht a for sale sign but didn't sell that I recall.

That was the show that motivated me to get my Bug. Just had to have one after seeing how easily those 2 guys got that thing fixed up. I didnt really care for some of their mods they did but hey, to each his own right?

This is repeating again on HD Theater. I recently had FiOS installed and I'm happy to have this channel again.

I hope they end up playing Beetled Crisis 2:

I'll have to watch out for that.
These kinds of shows kill me: they put a ridiculous deadline on when a car or house has to be restored then drive everyone crazy trying to get it done in time. Half the fun of restoring anything is the trip. It should be a slow, casual & fun process to get there. I guess the show wouldn't be interesting enough to the TV crowd unless someone's a$$ was on the line. :roll:
