You can weld a beadlock ring on any rim you want. You didn't say what ride you are putting the beadlocks on. Are you running strictly off-road, or are you pulling any street time?
I have to make a confession here, I'm doing a simultanious build of my '68 Baja with a '76 Jeep C-J5. You can weld a beadlock ring on any rim you want. The hardcore 4-wheelers have been doing this for years. If you are trailering your rig to the desert or dunes you should be good to go with the welded rings, however the various State's D.O.T's say, they aren't street legal in many states. I hear Cali. is way over regulated, concerning motor vehicles, you may want to check that out.
If you look at the pics below I sent you some shots of a D.O.T. approved beadlock set-up, if safety is your goal this is the set-up you want to go with.

staun interal bead locks are what I ran on my jeep, www.eco4wd.com/Faqsftp/StaunFaqs.htm
they work great, no need to mess with weld on rings etc. |
