hey all I finally got my bus running recently after bringing home from 6-7 yrs in dry storage. I have solved a spark issue, changed gas lines and bad gas....Now there seems to be something going on with the starter. When I turn the key the starter clicks once and doesn't turn over. Its not the battery, she is brand new and charged. This was happening once in awhile when the bus came home but then seemed to be working fine. Now just a click. Is the starter shot? whats my next move? :-k

If you don't have one already you need to buy yourself a Volt meter so that you can determine where you have power and where you don't. It is likely you have bad connections somewhere and a meter can tell you where.

Sounds like a good idea wildthings. 8) I'll climb under there tomorrow and check for power and see what the connections look like.

An ohm meter is also a usefull tool..
When I had my starter problems the volt meter said everything was fine..
Turned out the the positive lead on my battery had a patch of corrosion six inches from the terminal.
An ohm meter would have saved me days of pulling out my hair..(and I need all that is left of my hair).

check the trans ground strap and the neg terminal to body ground. These are likely suspects.

hey guys thanks for the help. I cleaned and tightened up the contacts on the battery, and now the starter is working again. :) I haven't had a chance to take a look under the bus at the starter but I will just to be sure they aren't in need of tlc.
