I just think if your funds are limited, you'd be much happier with a '65 you can hop in and drive than a disassembled oval sitting in a barn.

If he has the resources to take a big and spend the money to get it on the road, I guess go that route. But in the long run you usually spend less money buying a better condition bug to begin with.

Or, yes if you're set on an oval and don't care that it's going to cost a lot of money, a lot more than a big window, definitely be patient, know what you're looking for, and don't buy if it's not what you want. I waited 2 years to find an oval I wanted. 2 years is a long time. But it was worth it.

I am considering a later model, but I'm not quite sure if it will be what I want. Maybe, maybe not. I'm just thinking on it still. Thanks for all the input.

Don't buy what you don't want!!

If you have your mind set on an oval go for an oval. You just want to be patient and don't jump on the first one you see for sale just because you can afford it. It took me about 2-3 year to get my oval vert not because I couldn't buy one but I wanted to get the right one for the right price. Then it just took me less than 6 months to get my oval sedan. I set my mind for a specific year oval sedan and I got what I want for the price range I was looking for.

Set your mind for what oval you want (year, ragtop, etc.) then start looking for it. If you have $4k right now and can't find the right one just keep looking for it and at the same time keep saving for it so maybe in a few months later you have $500 or more for your oval and of course the more $$$ you have the better the oval you'll find and it make it easier as well.

If I knew you were looking for one I could it sell you the oval I sold 3 weeks ago It was a ’55 oval for $2,800. It had matching body & pan, correct front & rear fenders, doors, decklid, gas tank, batwing, ’56-’57 4 tab hood, correct front bottom seats, All original glass except windshield plus I sold it with a very good tranny /1600cc motor. The reason I sold it was to make room for my other oval that I just bought.

wow. I wish I could have jumped on that '55. Hopefully I can find something similar. Is that pomona swap meet a good place to find a decent oval?

FRK Fri Nov 06, 2009 12:05 pm

Pomona is good but be carefull, don't jump on on anything untill you know for sure.

A friend of mine was selling a '54 3fold rag for about $4k (give or take). All ask him if if he still have it and to email me pictures and info on it so I can post it here or PM you.

This one sounds & looks better than the others. You got to see it in person to check it out and if you don't know what you are looking for bring someone who knows. The pictures are too dark and maybe hiding something. Check for rust and for correct parts such as fenders, hood, decklid, seats, etc.Seems like a matching number car so that's a plus.
