I need some advice from my fellow samba-ers. I am looking at a 1973 Super Beetle. It is Marina Blue. It's been repainted before in the same color. The truck has the original paint and it's in really good shape. The body has typical rusty areas mainly behind the rear vents and the right side floor pan. I believe the interior to be original and it is in decent shape. Someone had messed with the wiring at some point in time because the left side brake light is on all the time except when the left turn signal is turned on, but that would be easy enough to fix with a wiring diagram. All four tires are flat because it has been sitting for about 5 years. I cleaned out the gas tank and fuel lines, put it new spark plugs, and new points/condenser and managed to get the car started and running for a few minutes. It stopped running after about a minute and I chalk that up to the carb being gummed up with god knows what. Another issue that I observed was that No. 2 cylinder was hissing as the engine turned over. I know that means the head is loose, but I haven't gotten to look at it closely to figure out if a stud is pulled or if it just needs to be re-torqued. I don't know how it drives because the tires are flat, but the stick goes into all the gears easily, so I don't think the transmission is too worn out. My plan is to get it and lube everything up, rebuild the carb and use it as my daily. I'm restoring a 1960 Beetle right now and I want to purify my life of my Honda by driving a VW full time. I got the seller down to $600. Sorry I don't have pictures. Should I take the plunge?

If you can get the throw-able life ring around her

For that price it's a non-issue. Grab it. If you are looking for a DD, you will love the Super. They handle better, tighter turning radius, more trunk room etc.

If you can make her skinny again...then HELL YES! Fat Chicks should be eliminated! 8)

Does a bear shit in the woods and wipe its ass with a rabbit?

YES! :)

Don't be a hater, Ben!

Fat chicks also have more safety equipment on board. Things such as three point seat belts, collapsible steering columns, etc. You'll be safer in one of those.

Thanks for all the support y'all. I'm sure I'll have some pictures up soon and let you know how things go.

If you decide to tackle the project, I have a couple 73 Super rear quarter sections that I picked up from another Samba member for my project that I'm probably not going to use.

I used the forward window frame/door post section from the passenger side panel on my 73, but other than that, they look like this...

I also have the matching vent section from below the rear window.

They're not in the way or anything, but if you need them we can probably work something out.
