Anyway, will any spring of the same length do if I can get one from the hardware store? I might not be able to locate the one Colin had.

Joe,

I took this off myself. I know it's in Troy's garage.

Hey Cptn. Calzone,

That plug is wired to the spring that RIOMX asked about. It glows real bright on 110v like a big filament so I can see to work on the engine!

No, seriously - That's where I plug into shore power. Our bus was originally a Transporter, so rather than cut a plugin point thru the body, I have this plug in the engine bay. I carry a 12-G extension cord with me so I can plug in whenever, wherever. This keeps the joint out of the weather too.

My fool-proof way of never forgetting to unplug before driving off?!? I have an old spring-type clothes pin painted bright red that stays clipped on the coiled up power cord when it's not in use. When I get the cord out to plug in somewhere, I take this clothes pin off and stick the one thin end of it in the ignition switch. That way later, I can't stick the key in and go without remembering to unplug!

Kinda low-budget ghetto, but it works for me!

Dude, it appears you are smoking some fine Mota......close pin for the cord, duct tape + sign on your aux battery...what do you use to keep from forgetting your gas cap? 8)

I need some help here

RIOMX,

Did ya ever think how boring and un-inspired our lives would be if we had money?!? Almost makes you feel kind of proud to know you can make it on your own ingenuity, huh?

Oh yeah. I almost feel even more rewarded when I can make stuff that works just as well as original parts, like I did with my flap hinges :D

The ceiling spring only keeps the throttle cable taut in the closed direction through the cross linkage. The cross linkage and carbs can work fully independently of that cable and return spring. The engine could fall out of the car and that spring will only try to keep the gas pedal up off the floor for you. The individual carb throttle return springs are for the actual throttle plates and engine idle. As mentioned further up the thread, this factory set-up works beautifully.
