| I swear to god i'm worse than a woman! I change my mind every day as to what i'm going to do. I went down and picked up a little syphon blaster to get to all the hard to reach rust areas on the car.(used plastic). I hate body work. , but i figure if i can come up with the money to paint it right this time then i'll be happier when it's done. it will be my first paint job though. only one way to learn though. every time i change my mind i think it adds a month to completion time. shitty. I wish I could dream of jeanie and have her wiggle her nose then presto all done. |

| but if you had a woman blink and make you a car, all the wiring would be the same color like a fiat, the edges of the windows would be painted from not masking, and the motor would not run because there was no carb. |

| so i got everything taken off that body so i can really get into body prep, and getting it cut for my front and rear end. starting that tonight, came in to take a break, eat, and a couple beers(to help my judgement when cutting) ha ha. Hopefully i'll have most of the day tomorrow to work on it. after that i'm not going to have time until after xmas. So i'm hoping i can keep motivatied and get alot done now. |

so i was out there til 11 tonight. got sawzall and cut off wheel happy tonight. started refabing the front fender well area so my front end will fit on and still keep as much sheet metal as i can for protection from debri and strenth to the body. Going to hit it hard tomorrow and hopefully get the front bodywork done or real close. also cut away some rusty crap, need to replace sheet metal there. I'm thinking about getting some thin wall 1-1/2" tubing and extending the heater tubes up above the firewall to ensure a good heat connection. here's some more pics of my progress.
first I thought i would show how far i've gotten on the inside of the roof. I'm going to hit it a couple more times to make sure i've gotten all the rust off.
before:
after:
this is the rear passenger quarter rust holes got to fix this still. this is where i found 1/2 inch of bondo, the whole quarter's bent in, i got a nice hammer for that though.
this is the front quarter section, I cut out all the rusty sheet metal here, since i opened it up I was going to sand blast all the rust i can out of that, extend the heater tube, and throw some paint on it
this is the same quarter panel, i've made a series of cuts, i plan on flattening all the metal, and try to get it so the front end fits on well, lots of welding coming up soon. hoping i can get it finished tomorrow.
I'll take some more pics tomorrow night so you all can see my progress. Later, it's well past beer thirty. |

so got a little work done today, not as much as anticipated though. I picked up some flexable exhaust tube at the local auto store-1-1/2". worked perfect for my front heater hose. this stuff here.
It slippe over the tube nice and snug, and i was able to tack weld it in place, it's permenant now, the car will eat away before this stuff does.
here's a couple pics of my fenderwell tacked in place, need to flatten it a little more, but almost there!
have to go to dinner at father in laws now, but hopefully tonight i can get another hour or two on it. later dudes. |

| thanks, no don't race. just got into them last spring, i have two 2.5's, one with a 3.3 in it, another with a losi - mach 427 big block. I just bash and take camping and stuff like that, run it, break it, run it again. since I've been working on my baja though have had no time to play with those. would rather be working on my big car then play with the little ones. for now anyways. |

| got both the passenger and drivers sides almost done on the front. now just to weld up the seams and fine tune the front apron area. I was able to score some time saturday to work on it. so hopefully I can finish most the welding on the front fender wells then. |

alrighty then, another pic heavy post. this is what i've gotten done. I welded up both front fender wells, got some work still to do on them, but getting real close. I had to add a couple inches of sheet metal to bring it all the way up to the front end to enclose it like i want. kinda hopeing for some kind of makeshift trunk. I used 1/4" rod on the top to give it more strength also. heres is a bunch of pics.
these are from inside the hood through the glove box
hopefully i'm happy when all is done. my goal is to be able to go blasting through nasty mudding holes with out chunks of earth all up in my shit. Also , lost a gas cap once bajaing, if i would of done this it would of stayed inside the hood. and wouldn't of had to do the rag/duct tap/plastic cap all weekend.
Well done working on the car until the 30th or maybe even next year, going on a trip for a week. I'll still be looking online though. merry xmas if i don't talk to you all. later. |
