I can't turn up a prior post, and I want to document my own attempt to get my bus running. Here is where I am now:
engine is a 2.0 out of a 914 porsche, so it has high compression and bigger valves
cam and everything else unkown, appears to have a fresh upper end rebuild
exhaust is the crummy 77 style
carbs are dual dell 40 DRLA
205 dizzy, set to 28 ful advance 7.5 idle
carbs synced w/ a snail
fuel pressure is set to 2 psi
float is set correctly
carbs have been rebuilt
JETTING
60 idle jets
140 mains,
35 pump jets
33mm venturis,
the 60s smell super rich when idling in the driveway, and melted my eeyes out of my head while I was setting the timing, so I swapped to 50s. still smelled alittle rich. Runs great on the highway, extreemly nice. around town it pulls hard off idle, then trips all over itself from 2200-2500, then it wakes up and goes like a (loaf shaped) rocket. the stumble almost seems to have nothign to do with throttle position, almost entirely to do with rpm. its lke I have no progression ports. also the engine does not respond to the mixture screws with EITHER idle jet, unless they are completly closed. both times i ended out setting them between 1/2 and 1 turn from closed.
I am considering buying smaller vents, but they are pricey adn 33 should be good, just a tad big. |

You should be fine with the 60's, and 33 vents. Be sure your mixture screws are set properly and then re-sinc.
Your flat spot sounds dizzy related to me. |

| you may want to move this to the performance section for better response.velocity is key and the 33 sounds kinda big. also 2 lbs of pressure is kinda low. i thought they were supposed to be at 3-3.5 pounds. |

| Fuser ... check your emulsion tubes. Sounds like you might have .1 tubes instead of the .2 tubes needed for duals. If they're .2s see if you can compare them with some other .2s. Somewhere along the line they could have been modified. |

what are the floats made of? Are they brass or black hard foam. If the latter, replace them.
Do they have throttle plates? If so are they on firmly? Leakage can occur between the throttle body and throttle plates on some carbs. |

airs are 180
e tubes are 1, i think. there is a string of numbers, starting w/ 9 i belive, and maybe a small space, and a 1, so i assume they are ones |

| Are they 9164.1 ? Those are for a single carb application. The 9164.2 are for dual carb applications. .2s are what you need. |
