Ok guys I have my new engine ready to go in. It is on the motorcycle jack on the floor.
I am ALONE  The transmission weighs a ton :? I was hoping to mate the engine and transmission on the ground and then put them into the bus as a unit. But only have the one jack. I don't know how I am going to lift the transmission to line it up with the engine.
Would it be easier to install the transmission first, then lift the engine into place? I already have the torque convertor installed on the engine.
I have read lots of posts on pros and cons of removal but none relate to instalation
Thanks
BTW it is a 75 automatic transmission.
DO I have to worry about lining up the shafts inside the transmission to the torque convertor? I don't know how that would be possible
Thanks again |

I would remove the torque converter from the engine and install it onto the transmission shafts first. It is pretty hard to get everything properly aligned so that the torque converter slips on fully. I have found that standing the transmission on end helps with this.
Once you have the TC properly in place, wire it there so it stays. Then you can stack blocks to help position the tranny. You only need to lift one end of the tranny at a time while adding or removing blocks until you get everything properly positioned. |

Thanks Wildthings
That worked perfectly. I actually had a buddy stop by and help but that is how we did it.
