| I just started driving my 1971 super beetle and 2nd gear grinds, does anyone know why? and sometimes 1st grinds when i am already rolling forward. thanks |

Seems like all of us are having this issue now! I have posted on this topic a few times in the last week. Try replacing your shift rod bushing and checking your coupler under your back seat for wear. Also check your reverse lockout plate under the shifter. Easy, cheap and much needed job on lots of old VW's.
I did mine this weekend and it took an hour including all the cleaning, sanding and lunch (maybe even a beer).
