Hello I have a cahnce to pick up some 71 doors that are in ok shape
(better than the ones I have now) Question is will they fit my 77 ?
It's a two hour drive to pick them up ,and i'm just asking those with more
knowlege than I have on this issue. Thanks for any advise.
And yes I searched.

You'll have to drive out the hinge pins and swap the hinge halves and there isn't any lower vents in 71 doors.

Conversion kit:

That's what I used.

thanks I'm not afraid of working the door to fit it to my bus. Did you
have any trouble getting the vents in your doors? Finding good doors
in PA isnt an easy thing to do.

Having owned a 1971 and a 1977 I can tell you that if you intend it to work as a stock 1977 door with the internal vents etc, that is unlikely as there are also differences on how air intakes into the door. If you just want to the door to open and close, and the windows to work then changing the mounting with the conversion kit is supposed to work.

I can see where the availability of good doors due to salt and weather would be hard - and it would be reasonably expensive to ship them compared to free ones however if you are not in a hurry you might find a pair of doors on the west coast or SW in good shape and a Samba member who is traveling that way who could bring them to you on their next trip. We have plenty of doors out here - to the point where people want to find the same year and color before buying one.
