| if your getting fuel and its just turning over then your not getting spark. pull the plug off one of the spark plugs then ground it and turn the car over. do you see a spark? if not then your not getting spark and you have a wiring problem. check the cap/rotor, connections to coil and grounds. |

no because either way its still spinning in the same direction, the only way that would happen is if you installed it backwards and i think you would have noticed that. if something spins clockwise and you rotate it 180 degrees, its still spinning clockwise.

thats ONLY at the coil wire. that means there is something wrong in the distributor. like someone said already, pull one of the spark plugs and ground it to the car. turn the engine over and watch for a spark. no spark means distributor problem (since you said you have spark at coil). |

| generator has nothing to do with the car starting. all it does is charge the battery to keep it running. and its connected to the fan which cools the motor. i guessing dizzy problem |

| hmm. what dizzy do you have? vacuum advance? check the condenser, the little wire that goes to the coil not the actually coil wire. is it on the right side? it may have became unplugged accidently |

check the gap on the points as well, maybe the screw came loose. |

| then make sure you have spark at the PLUG...if you have a spark, then your problem is either timing or fuel. |

i think i know the problem...you say new condenser, cap, rotor, points, and spark at coil but no spark at plugs. when you are gapping the points, are you turning the distributor cam is at its peak? |

yes.
is your coil wire inserted fully into the top of the distributor? peel back that little boot on the end and make sure its all the way in.
and this is actually a dumb question on my part but i have made this mistake before myself. did you put the rotor back in before you put the cap back on? if you did, make sure you twist the rotor wile pushing down and make sure its locked into place, it should not turn by hand. |
