Which wire inside the car (under back seat) would you splice into for the brake light power supply...
I got a 3rd LED brake light I plan to install in the back glass...... |

| there is no wire under the back seat, it runs in a harness by thee heater channel. easiest to find it behind the tar board in engine compartment. |

| I realize that but you can get to the harness from under the back seat or behind the quarter panel on the driver side... I'm wondering the wire color I guess you could say |

| the wiring diagrams say black wire with red stripe. long shot, you know the tech plug in the engine compartment. does that have a wire leading to the brake lights? |

yes but the light is going to be inside the car... I don't want to run a wire from the outside to the light inside the car... thanks for the info
I'll give it a shot |

When I decided to put a third brake light on my '68, I wanted it to be high enough to be seen. Without fabricating a braket for the outside, I went for a light that used suction cups to hold it to the inside of the back window.
I used the black wire with the red stripe (refer to the wiring diagram here on The Samba). It was tight work under the back seat. The wire bundle is tight against the driver's side heat duct. But it sure made a neat installation and everything is inside out of the weather. |
