What is the bolt size on the door mirrors? I know it's a 1.5 pitch. But not sure of the bolt size, perhaps 14 or 15mm. Thanks, vwdon

huh? My mirror on the 1971 and my 1977 don't have bolts. The base just screws into the hole on the door. There is a nut, spring and stud that hold the mirror portion onto the base but I don't think I would call it a bolt. Do you have either an earlier bus or perhaps truck mirrors on it?

Yes, my mistake. I bought the bus depot "vanagon mirrors" that bolt into a '71 bay no problem except that they ran out of bolts and I need to find the bolt. I did do another search and it seems to be a:
M16 x 1.5
So now I just need to find where to buy such a beast of a bolt.
Thanks, vwdon

We are in Sacramento. I will look at Emigh hardware next time we are there. They have a huge hardware room. You can also try McMaster-Carr online as they have a huge number of parts or Fastenal in Stockton may have or be able to get them.

How timely. I have also tried ordering the mirror mount, to fit onto a Super Beetle- nobody has them right now, and we are looking at a long wait for the boat, I guess. I am gonna try to find a nut at hardware store, but would I be able to cut an old door apart and retrieve this threaded gizmo?
Anyone done this?
Anyone?
Anyone?
Bueller?

Bug, and probably bus, steering wheel nut is the same as the bug mirror mount. There is usually a bracket for the mirror inside the bug door, but it needs to have a not tacked in place by MIG/TIG.
