| just finished replacing the clutch, plate, flywheel and TO bearing on my 1969 SP 1600. When I gently push the clutch in I get a whine. Now in the past when I have heard a whine like that it was associated with the TO going bad. Could it be I have a defective new TO? With all componets being new, I did tighten up the clutch cable. Cout I have adjusted it too much and this be the cause of the whine? |

Quote: clutch,plate,flywheel and TO bearing
Did you set the end play correctly and tighten the gland nut to the proper torque?
Did you replace the gland nut and if not, did you grease the pilot bearing inside it with a moly grease?
Does the whine only occur when the clutch is pressed in?
If you roll down your window can you hear it outside or is it coming in via the cable? |

Yes on all repairs. The whine is only heard when the clutch is depressed. I can hear the noise with the window down.
Now, I did go out this morning nd readjusted the clutch freeplay and lo and behold no whine. Luck, coincidecne? Will recheck a little later today. |
